Wednesday’s Wish List

Last night was the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, and I really thought it was a success. With performances from Nicki Minaj, Kanye, Jay-Z and Maroon 5, the energy was high and the outfits were extremely creative. I particularly loved the New Orleans Burlesque and Indian inspired outfits.

Since I didn’t do a wishlist yesterday, I think I’ll take today to discuss my top five holiday wishlist items (for now). Enjoy!!

It’s Finally Here!

I’m not sure how many of you watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show …but ever since I was in college my best friends and I would gather around the television at this time every year and watch the show. The outfits, the stage design, the music and the musical performances are all so spectacular that you don’t wanna miss out. The glitz, the glamour and the headpieces alone are some of the best fashion statements of the year.

Everyone has their favorite VS models-mine are definitely Bahati Prinsloo (for her name alone and her exoticism), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for her classic beauty. Everyone enjoy the show tonight! Who’s your favorite VS supermodel?

Happy Cyber Monday!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Mine was filled with visiting my family in Queens, some fabulous black Friday shopping (thank you Lord and Taylor) and seeing friends over the weekend. It’s always great to have a reunion at home with high school friends when everyone is home for the holidays.

Getting back into the swing of Monday is made a lot easier with cyber monday deals. I just picked out my holiday present (see photo below) from Alex courtesy of the fabulous sales Rebecca MInkoff is having on its website. (would you expect me to choose anything else?). Now for picking out presents for everyone else-including my parents. I think I have something great selected, but can’t share it here since my mom reads my blog.

Tomorrow’s post will be a huge holiday wishlist so stay tuned!

Designer Spotlight: Faye Resnick

If you are into home design, then you must love Faye Resnick. The best place to see her these days is on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as Kyle Richard’s designer. But, Faye’s talents go way beyond reality television. A portion of her portfolio can be viewed on her website including Nicky and Paris Hilton’s homes and other celebrities. Resnick has a way of combining modern with romantic and romantic with classic design…making it all work together in one room. One of my favorites are the pink chairs she incorporated into a dining room set. As I find myself stuck at home in Maine till the weather clears tomorrow morning…I set out to find my own pink chair inspiration-found below. Safe travels to all today! xoxo

Trendsetting: Paneling

On my recent excursion to H&M I got the most comfy and fashionable paneled spandex that are part faux-suede. Paneled pants have made a huge debut in the fashion world this year. So much so, that I think it’s translating to home decor. HGTV has been showing many homes with paneled rooms, and I don’t think I half-mind it. Check out some of these paneled rooms below and let me know what you think!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday guys! Apologies for no post on Friday, but I was super busy putting together our very first holiday party at our apartment. Our law school’s holiday party was later on Friday evening, so we had friends over ahead of time to celebrate. I spent hours decorating the apartment with holiday lights, pine tree and apple cider candles, fake snow, pine tree centerpieces and glitter pine cones (all thanks to Pottery Barn). Apple cider and rum drinks plus a ton of beautiful desserts (made by my friend Michele) and Hors d’oeuvres completed the night.

I also spent entirely too much time and money at H&M yesterday. Although the Versace line didn’t come to Portland, there was still plenty of goodies ranging from H&M’s velvet panel leggings, feux leather pants, long tunic sweaters, holiday dresses and capes. I think I’m done shopping for a while…at least until Urban Outfitters makes it’s debut in Portland in a few months.

In Love With Stripes

Along with leopard prints, zebra prints have been huge lately. Although I don’t own much in the way of animal prints, I do think that black and white stripes make for fantastic home decor. What do you think?

Back in Black

courtesy of: NYT

Fashion trends really amaze me sometimes. The black veil accessory is no exception. According to the New York Times Fashion Section, black veils and fascinators are becoming trendy across Europe and the U.S. A look once reserved for funerals and mourning has now transformed into a fall/winter fashion statement. I would prefer to keep the sacredness of the veil for certain events, however the fascinators I do find…well, fascinating. If you’re into the goth/chic look -this trend may be for you

Decorating with Candles

Last week in NY, I went to Pottery Barn to find decorations for our holiday party on Friday. I may have gone crazy-but mostly because party planning is one of my favorite activities. I bought a ton of holiday candles as well as votive candles and holders for them and am using some inspiration below to figure out how to set up all my decorations around our apartment. Love the holiday season!
