Happy New Year!

So it’s Rosh Hashonah, the Jewish New Year. One thing I remember from my days of Hebrew School is that for the holiday, everyone eats apples and honey for a sweet new year. So, kicking off today’s post is a dedication to the sweet treat of honey and it’s gorgeous golden color. Happy and healthy new year guys!

Finding a Nook

This semester is all about doing work, all the time (except when I’m blogging of course). I’ve tried to find new places to study to mix things up a bit…but I keep coming back to my apartment. It’s just so cozy and…air conditioned. We have these large window sills, almost like the nooks that we had in our dorms at Skidmore. I’m thinking of redecorating one and making it my very own study nook. Maybe then…i’ll be productive. Inspiration below!

Mixed Messages

It’s rare to find a professor that you find fashionable. Today, my business associations (of all classes) professor wore what I thought was an extremely fashionable striped shirt with polka dotted tie–leading me to today’s post on the combination of the two and how mixed trends can actually work quite well together.

Weekend in Review

This weekend was actually super relaxing, which meant that very little work got done unfortunately. Yesterday, Alex and I joined my friend Alison in having a giant yard sale across the street from the county fair (a sentence I could never actually write until I moved out of New York City and learned both about yard sales and county fairs). Check out some photos below!

Also Alex and I always make big meals on Sunday for the week. Yesterday I made a cream of mushroom soup and he made chicken tikka masala. I highly suggest both recipes!

Gettin’ Leggy With It

I have a secret….

I LOVE legwarmers. As in long knit tubes of fabric over tights, jeans, alone…anything really. Perhaps I should have been in the movie fame, or stayed in the 80′s but I really do love them. This rainy weather has got me digging out my several pairs to wear under my new Hunter rainboots and I am even contemplating getting a few more pairs. If you think legwarmers are a bunch of silly, which many do…check out these photos below and let me know if you’ve changed your mind! xo

Dear Coffee, I love you

When we awoke this morning, there was no power. No light in the bathroom, or internet, no Today show or toaster for bread…no good. My saving grace was the coffee that had been made on a timer before the power went off at 7 am. I’ve never been so happy to find a hot pot of coffee waiting for me. Last spring I gave up coffee for a while in an attempt to balance myself and not rely so heavily on caffeine. Well, that’s over and now I’m completely reliant on coffee again to get through my day. So…thank you coffee maker. Below-my dedication to all things…you. xoxo

Wooden it be Nice

I stepped out of my apartment building early Sunday morning to walk my dog and smelled the most amazing signifying smell of the fall season-a burning fireplace. It was really amazing. This wood burning smell got me thinking about how much I truly love wooden furniture and all its richness in the cooler months. Below is some wooden interior decorating inspiration to get started on for the upcoming season. xox

Fashion Week Wrap up

New York Fashion Week came to a close last week and overall I’d say it was a great success. There wasn’t any entire collection that I disliked, but I certainly enjoyed some looks more than others. The preppiness of Pringle of Scotland and feminine frocks of Erin Fetherston and Phillip Lim all caught my eye. One of my absolute favorites was Badgley Mischka’s collection. The color’s and flow of the dresses were to die for! Photos of some of my favorites below. xox
